How to Sell Your Grain

The GrainXchange offers growers the ability to confidentially list warehoused or on farm grain for sale.

Growers may display a cash ‘target price’ although this is not compulsory.

The buyer will be able to view tonnages and target prices, if listed, however no grower details will be displayed grain will be identified using lot numbers.

Grain can be added or removed and target prices changed at any time by the growers.

How GrainXchange Works

• Growers enter their grain for sale (with or without a target price.)
  

• EPIC gathers the daily cash bids from the buyers.
  

• This data is then entered in a spread sheet by Company, Commodity, Grade, Port and season this calculates the best price.
  

• We also update spreads, payment terms, minimum tonnages etc daily.
  

• Best prices are then entered on the EPIC website and the Emails, SMS and Fax are sent.
  

• Next the lots listed on the site are checked for matches between best bids and target prices.
  

• If there is a match with an indicative target price we will then contact the grower to confirm that he is happy to sell, go through any monthly storage charges that may apply or spreads in the case of forward contracts and also buyer payment terms.
  

• If the grower accepts the buyer bid, EPIC will then contact the buyer, confirm that the price is still holding (Also confirm spreads in the case of forward contracts) and then complete the contract on the growers behalf, a copy of the brokers note is then sent to the grower and the buyer, the buyer will also forward the contract to the grower.
  

• We recommend that you check both thoroughly as soon as you get them to ensure there are no errors.
  

• Growers can also contact EPIC if they wish to sell for the best daily price, EPIC will contact the buyer to confirm the bid is still holding and the complete the contract on the growers behalf as above.
  

• Buyers can view grain listed on the website (no grower details are displayed) and may request EPIC to approach a grower with an offer.

• The EPIC website also automatically sends buyers a spread sheet daily with total tonnages for each commodity and grade and the lowest, highest and average target price and the three parcels with the lowest target prices for each port. 

When on-farm grain is listed the web site will calculate an on-farm storage quality rating based on information provided by the seller (Grower) to encourage buyer confidence in on-farm storage and more trade direct from farm.
